Jos + Rachel’s Cosmo Chic Collection

This series was done quite some time ago for the Cosmo Chic Collection from Jos + Rachel. In their own words:

Color and geometry are the two pillars in this collection and many of the dresses are combined with the contrasting texture and weight of fabric. Liberal use of tulle took on a feminine grace, which was the collection’s strongest note. Jos + Rachel’s signature delicate dresses – here in hand-pleated silk chiffon, taffeta, and satin, were raw-edged and has a touch of balletic loveliness. Add some splendidly sleek accessories that are worthy additions to this Cosmo Chic collection.

From the initial conceptualization and preparation to the actual photoshoot and the post-production, everything was executed professionally by James and Irene from Jazerstudio Weddings. I did the makeup and hairstyling for Ingrid Resing to present the work of Ming Ming, a Temasek Polytechnic fashion design student. For her Fashion Graduation project, Ming Ming designed a collection of cocktail dresses, inspired by the simple idea of a young woman who reminisces her sweet childhood, dreaming of being pretty like princesses in fairy tales. Daphne is another supportive great friend who has helped to be my model on various occasions since I’ve started the makeup thing. In fact, she has been the “Cover Girl” for thelittlebrush.com mainpage since Day One.

Invited her for a collaboration last November. I wanted to create a classic look with hot red lips, purple eyeshadow and 50′s hairstyle similar to that of Audrey Hepburn’s classic hair bun.

Lance introduced me to Margareth and Shavonne who were interested in fashion/portrait photoshoot. Margareth was the photographer for these pictures while Shavonne was the model. We had two very fruitful sessions in two different studios. Here are some pictures to share.

First session – girlish, soft and youthful.

Second session – smokey eyes, portrayal of strength and self confidence.

Jessica is Claudine’s sister, whom I have just posted earlier. She followed Claudine along during her trial makeup, and we have hit along with each other quite well after some chit chat. One thing led to another, and few weeks later, my husband and I did a makeover and photo shooting session for her.

We started around noon time and finished in the late evening with the two looks.

The first look was kinda Barbie-doll like with slightly over-the-top faux eyelashes. Jessica actually has long and straight hair. To do something different, I created a short, curly and messy hair for her, sharpening her oval face. A mini crown in the hair added some cuteness to the overall look.

The second look is suitable for evening events. I used green eyeshadow with long faux eyelashes. The eyeshadow color is not intended to be very strong, but to create a noble and elegant impression. Finished it off with a classic yet simple and neat hair bun.

MAC Pro Master Class – Gregory Arlt

Attended the Mac Pro Master Class by Gregory Arlt, makeup maestro and director of makeup artistry for MAC last month. The topic was on HDTV makeup and red carpet makeup and Greg proved to be a very humorous and interesting speaker.

Greg prefers using MAC burgundy lips pencil with viva glam I and some luster gloss when he is doing red lips. And I have to agree that the result is really stunning and beautiful. According to Greg, gold color eyeshadow is the preference of red carpet actresses these days. Clean, soft and natural look will easily make the person look more glamorous.

It was indeed a very inspiring class to say the least, and i have gained much knowledge from Greg.

The first was a punk/rock chick look ala Avril Lavigne. Her bracelet surely helps to lift up the look.

The second look leans towards Japanese kawaii style with big doll-like round eyes.

Over the weekend, my friend Shermin came over to be my makeup model.

The first makeup emphasizes glamor with a pair of big eyelashes. The makeup is more suitable for attending evening dinner or party.

The second makeup leans towards a more natural look with light blue eyeshadow.The overall makeup is clean and light, as it brings out the youthful and sweetness of ladies. Together with the hairdo, this is a perfect makeup for daytime outing or dating.
